The main cemetery in Orléans from the twelfth to the eighteenth century, the Campo Santo today hosts many of the city’s cultural events.
The installation by the Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou (Colonial Erection) will be exhibited here to mark the Biennale’s official opening, before being transported to Vierzon at the start of November. This monumental work, composed of 54 flags from African countries, addresses questions of post-colonialism and the future of Africa through culture and symbols of identity.
