1024 architecture is an artistic label created in Paris (2007) by François Wunschel and Pier Schneider. Their nomadic, temporary and airy architectural projects have been seen throughout the world, from Vancouver to Tokyo, via New York, Montreal, Shanghai and Mexico City. Invited to create a bookstore/cafeteria for the Biennale d’Architecture d’Orléans, the agency has created a welcoming and life center designed to guide visitors on their itinerary called L’Atelier. Via an architectural and sculptural installation a single space to address the specific needs of the event is created. Consisting of basic raw materials, such as wood boards, scaffolding collars, or spotlights, L’Atelier evokes a world under construction, a place in the making. A meeting point that invites visitors to relax, exchange, converse, read and escape, L’Atelier transforms itself into another space for manufacturing possibilities within the Biennale.
