Touring Exhibitions

In order to respond to one of its fundamental missions – dissemination – each year the Frac Centre-Val de Loire presents a touring exhibition based on the works in its collection. By adapting it to the host venues, the Frac makes copies available to schools, as well as some of the original artworks. Mediation texts are also provided based on the exhibition. The project is part of the “Un établissement, une oeuvre” [One Institution, One Artwork] initiative jointly supported by the French Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Scéren CNDP-CRDP – Réseau Canopé, and the association of French regions (1RF).

Antti Lovag: ‘Habitatologist’

Touring Exhibition 2018-2019

The touring exhibition Antti Lovag, habitologue, devised in a continuation of the programming at Les Turbulences Frac Centre-Val de Loire, presents the work of Antti Lovag, one of the first architects to develop organic architecture in France. From the 1960s onwards, he created ‘bubble houses’ from concrete formwork designs. Beyond their aesthetically pleasing quality, his research expresses an ethics of architecture, in which users, builder-creators, are the masters of their own constructed environment: “I’m not interested in architecture. I’m interested in humanity; in creating an envelope around human needs. I work like a tailor, I make customised envelopes. Envelopes that can be deformed at will.” (Antti Lovag)
