From April to September, the Frac Centre invites you to explore Les Turbulences during the Relief(s) cycle.

Three exhibitions, a series of cultural and educational programmes, and a workshop will be on the agenda for the five-month period. All so many peaks, offering different views of the Frac Centre’s Art & Architecture collection, and ideas proposed by contemporary artists.

This cycle sheds new light on the way in which contemporary art can renew our reading of the landscape and, more broadly, the environment, at a time when it is being shaped more by human action than by any other natural and geological force.

The group show « Relief(s)-Designing the Horizon » explores different presences of the relief in art over the past sixty years, following the aesthetic and political meanings conveyed by them. This circuit has been devised with the artist Aurélie Pétrel; her painstaking work creating tension between images draws visual, semantic and topographical routes among the works on view.

At the same time, the Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi is presenting his work in France for the very first time: after a production residency at Les Turbulences, he is revealing reverse of volume FC in the Galerie des Fours à pain.

Lastly, the Frac is devoting one of the first major solos shows to the explorer, Gérard Singer. This great mountaineering enthusiast has found a way to let material and digital innovation work to the advantage of a total art, for everyone, on the borderline with architecture.

In September, a week of events and workshops will enliven the Galerie des Turbulences, around four French architects from Peaks. The final summit will be the European heritage days which will wind up this circuit, rich in things to discover.
