Permanence médicale de Cornavin, Genève, 1971-1972

Projet réalisé

Built in Geneva with Patrck le Merdy, the Cornavin Medical Unit was one of Pascal Häusermann’s first projects to be incorporated in an urban setting. While the ovoid shapes of his constructions, erected in sweeping landscapes, tend to bring architecture closer to nature, the Medical Unit was here incorporated within Geneva’s urban fabric. It was grafted onto the historic buildings of the hospital like a futuristic capsule, and illustrated Häusermann’s social commitment, because, for him, architecture can transform our relationship to the world.
