Nigerian artist Emeka Ogboh works primarily from sound and video, using these mediums as elements of analysis and understanding of cities as cosmopolitan, migratory and global spaces. Emeka Ogboh often works in sub-Saharan Africa, performing "sound collages", the result of meticulous fieldwork: Emeka Ogboh surveys the urban space to track down and reveal the "sound infrastructure" of cities, an index of a present reality as much as of a buried history and memory.
Emeka Ogboh is a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka. The artist has been part of the Dakar Biennale in 2014 and the Venice Biennial of Art (2015). Invited as part of the exhibition "The City, Faraway" at the Frac Centre-Val de Loire in 2016, he is part of documenta 14 (Kassel-Athens) and Skulptur Projekte (Münster) in 2017.
