Marino Di Teana

Le Navire sans fin

This design, based on paper assembly and collage, bears witness to an aesthetic research project blending sculpture with the exploration of perpetual movement. The Endless Ship by Marino di Teana results from the dynamic and symbiotic interplay of forms, seen here as if in a snapshot: the cube, the circle and the cylinder gradually merge to form architecture and thus emphasize the notion of space, in a harmonious and poetic construction. This piece created in 1974 in the form of a monumental sculpture (7m x 6m) for the Republican Guard in Paris, offers an example of the many public commissions produced by the artist (under the framework of the requirement of  1% of construction budgets allocated for art and for New Town projects), until the late 1990s.
