Black Painting is a magazine picture on which spray paint has been projected. Be it an act of vandalism or access to another dimension, the black stain intrudes upon the confined setting of the image. This piece can be presented as a form of installation when it is combined with Form-Structure 1. The association of the two pieces is a striking one. Form-Structure 1 hides and suggests an interior that is subject to a free appropriation, whereas Black Painting represents a middleclass interior that has seen better days and is as if broken down. Duly titled Complex Interiors, the installation “cultivates a spiritual Minimalist aesthetic whose areas of opaqueness are forever being reloaded with stories and mystical meanings” (Caroline Soyez-Petithomme).
