Didier Padaillé
  • Artist (1954)

The French artist Didier Padaillé (born in 1955 in Perpignan) works on the paths of memory. Based on a vocabulary using symbols, fragments and traces of work involving patinas and different forms of matter, he projects us into a melancholy world, filled with sensations and reliefs. The diptychs, identifiable by a dazzling coloured monochrome juxtaposed with a darker one, play on the relation between painting and architecture, as if to better question the notion of window-painting. The image seems to make just a stealthy appearance with motifs borrowed from funerary art and ornamental painting. With Padaillé, painting means covering, seeking and losing the image.
